Snowflakes and Winter Glimpses

this snowfall: slivers of crystals and star flakes

Until we look close, could we ever imagine the varied crystals of snow that grace our world?

above is from a different snowfall

 whitetail deer
winter woodlands

for two weeks
one Arctic Redpoll visited the feeder

makes me wonder how one bird
is here
they are usually a flock type of bird

Mountain Lions

I stepped outside
to have a mountain lion cub
run in front of me

did I really see that?

as the cub moved into the forest

I heard it calling
another responding

two siblings wanting to be near one another

this is the sibling
making its way to the other

notice that its spots are near invisible
that might make it 6 months of age

here is a short video I captured:

that was the first time I have ever seen a mountain lion
in the wild

I have to say it was quite wonder-full!

Winter in NW Montana

(large tracks in snow made by elk)
I found myself thinking:
I live in the land of Christmas trees

our road lined with giant snow cloaked trees
felt entirely enchanting

sunshine presented the world with light and shadows

ice on my steps
formed into filigree flowers

before the sun arrived another kind of beauty:

from my home to yours
I wish you holidays that feel good to you

Nearing Winter Solstice

as we near the Solstice
days have been mostly gray

the sun came out
the mountains breath turned into clouds

to set sight on these views was to change our
breath and spirit

though the large views captured attention

I also noted that the snow had piled up
of entirely miniature

I wish you all a lovely Solstice

Montana Glimpses

some folks put stars on the tops of their Christmas tree
do you think it is inspired by the natural star on top of a fir?

awe inspiring

when the air is warmer than the earth
the mist does rise and wander through the land

a mystical morning

when the air is super cold
lovely crystals greet us

new snow graced the world

lovely days
nights to you
